Paper Circuits

Build a light-up space village – complete with half-cylinder moon habs, little houses with windows and airlocks, and space ships shooting lasers. All built from just paper, conductive tape, LED lights and coin cells! I ran this workshop at EMFCamp 2026.

I’d recommend this conductive tape from Pimoroni, since it’s conductive on both sides and you don’t need to worry about joining separate pieces — just tape one piece over the other.

When printing at home, I’d recommend at least 120gsm paper for the Habitat, House and Card, but lighter paper for the Space Ships.

The instructions are easy to follow, and the designs are up to you.

Star Wars space ships

Designs and printed paper available in the Klutz Star Wars Folded Flyers book. Choose a ship, cut out the sheets of patterned paper, and follow the instructions.

For these models, you’ll have to figure out your own circuit — we used an LED at the nose, with tape taking the circuit towards the battery in the crease at the back. We also put a gap in the tape and used a paper clip to make a simple switch.
